Good but tight

I just bought the white thong at a local shop. It runs a little on the small side and, although stretchy, it feels pretty tight and I'm not that big. As this is polyester and spandex I wonder if it would be OK to wear in salt water. I think I might like to be a little more adventurous this year and could wear this to the beach. If not, I'd like to find a thong for doing some open water swimming, kind of like a low rise Speedo maybe single ply with a puch that would stay in place while swimming. Please advise if this would be OK in salt water, pool water or if there is an alternative. Overall, I'm feeling sexy!
